Reader Question:
As an American located in Canada for more than 20 years, personally i think Canadians tend to be more prepared for interracial dating/marriage than People in america. You being the contrary, a Canadian staying in the claims, are you experiencing equivalent observance? How come this thus?
-Keith (Canada)
Dr. Wendy Walsh’s Answer:
we notice what you are stating although study does not apparently help your thesis. Per a 2010 Pew analysis, 8 percent people marriages tend to be interracial, while studies Canada reports that about 4 per cent of Canadian marriages are interracial.
The vast majority of those marriages tend to be with one Asian lover. The second team likely to enter into an interracial marriage is actually Latino. We suspect the question might discussing the social acceptance of black and white unions there I can only provide anecdotal research from personal experience. ( personal children are multiracial: African-American-Irish-Canadian.)
In huge western and north American cities, the social recognition of interracial dating seems about the same as Canada. In more compact communities, outlying locations and also in some south states, where history of historical clashes might be still offered through household programs, indeed there seems to be significantly less service.
But times are switching every-where and most people feel love can flower between any two people.
